Starting a business is one thing. Growing a strategic, smart and innovative business that consistently captures the interest of customers, investors, partners and collaborators is another. Without the right tools and guidance, many entrepreneurs struggle to get past the start-up phase and see the full potential of their business. It takes the right mix of instruction, counseling, resources, planning and opportunities to move your business in the right direction. That's where our new program, Innovator's Journey, comes in.

The Innovator’s Journey (InJ) Program is a statewide learning program in person and online, that allows you to navigate through a standard workflow and helps small businesses gain access to capital and contract opportunities to grow their businesses by providing entrepreneurial education and training opportunities.

InJ Snapshot:

  • A free program to learn how to strategically think and communicate about your business to your customers and potential financial backers

  • For existing business owners (no matter how new or old your business is)

  • Includes in-class and online instruction (all materials included)

  • After completing the 6-week program, all participants have the opportunity to pitch their business to interested vendors, suppliers, customers and lenders

What you'll learn:

  • How to sharpen your business model

  • How to build a winning value proposition

  • How to identify your customer by building sophisticated customer personas

  • What lenders look for when reviewing loan applications

  • How to pitch your business in a way that strongly conveys what you do

Requirements:

  • Your business must be located in the Northeastern North Carolina area

  • You must be able to commit to the full 6-week program (we will meet once per week for two hours)

  • Participants are strongly encouraged to complete their "homework" assignments via the InJ online platform to maximize their learning experience
