Our flagship programs
The Training Crawl is a workshop that provides business owners with direct assistance for the typical challenges that they encounter when launching or expanding their business. We offer the Training Crawl on a quarterly basis and it is free of charge. Business owners must operate a storefront or office-based business to participate. This program is hosted in partnership with both the Small Business Center (SBC) and the Small Business and Technology Development Center (SBTDC).
Think Like A Banker
Think Like A Banker is a workshop that uses project-based learning and role-playing to explore and understand what lenders look for when they are considering a loan application. The goal of this workshop is to prepare prospective borrowers for the loan process and educate them on what it takes to be a qualified loan candidate. This workshop is offered twice per year as an express (2-hour session) or full (8-week session). It is free to participate and pre-registration is required.
The Secret Shopper Program (SSP) allows business owners to receive an unbiased review of their general business operations. Participants can sign up as a “Shopper” (a person who visits a business and provides detailed feedback) or a “Business” (a store/office that receives shoppers or clients). Shoppers are anonymous and provide the feedback directly to the EWEC. This program operates twice per year and is free of charge to participate in. Businesses receive detailed feedback and reviews at the conclusion of the program and can work with the EWEC to address any areas of their business that need improvement. If you would like to participate as a "SHOPPER" in this program, please click here.
As certified facilitators, the EWEC offers Icehouse training to business owners, schools, and civic and nonprofit organizations. The EWEC is a proud grant recipient and partner with NC IDEA to host and facilitate this training that focuses on helping people understand and apply the entrepreneurship mindset to their work. This training is offered free of charge and pre-registration is required.
Annual Women’s Conference
The annual women’s conference is for women in northeastern NC and covers topics such as work/life balance, starting a business, understanding finances and credit, health and wellness, and personal branding. Esteemed business owners and speakers lead the workshops and provide additional support throughout the event. We attract attendees with various personal and professional backgrounds and offer amazing opportunities to build relationships and nurture ideas.
The First Annual Women’s Conference proudly positioned us to receive a proclamation from the mayor of Elizabeth City to declare October 19th as Women’s Day throughout our city.
